Shrewsbury Drapers:
The Shrewsbury Drapers Company was founded as a Guild by Royal Charter in 1462. Nowadays there are 80 elected Freemen of the Guild who are trustees for two charities which manage and support almshouses in Shrewsbury. The Guild is the tenant of the ground floor of the Drapers Hall (built in 1576) where there is a restaurant and much of the original furniture and fittings...
Shrewsbury Concert Band:
Shrewsbury Concert Band is an adult (ie over 16 years) wind band that rehearses at 7.30pm on thursdays during the school term at Meole Brace School in Shrewsbury. The band is conducted by Ken Lumley Head of music at Meole Brace School. The band attracts players from all over the county of Shropshire and performs in and around the County throughout the year. We play a wide range of music arranged for wind band from William Byrd to the Beatles.
